Syncing

Syncing (or sychronising) is when iTunes makes sure that all of the music, photos, contacts, etc. that you want on the iPod, are on the iPod – and also removes the things that you don’t want.

Sync by opening iTunes, connecting the iPod and then clicking your iPod in the navigation pane.

Click Sync in the bottom right

Adding New Music / Updating Music

After downloading new music or ripping music from CDs using Windows Media Player, you may want to add the new music to your iPod.

If you downloaded the music, and it’s in your “Downloaded” folder:

• Open iTunes
• Open “Music” folder.
• Drag the “Downloaded” folder from “Music” to the “Library” in iTunes.

If you ripped a new CD, instead of dragging the ‘Downloaded’ folder (in the last step), drag the Artist’s folder to iTunes. For example, if you ripped a Britney Spears CD, drag the “Britney Spears” folder from “Music” to the iTunes library.

Removing Music

To remove a song from iTunes, right-click it and click ‘Delete’

Here’s a tip, you can delete more than one song at once by selecting multiple songs – either hold down CTRL and click each one, or click the top file, hold SHIFT and click the bottom file.

Creating Playlists

You can easily create iPod playlists from your MP3 CD playlists:

In iTunes, click File > New Playlist

Give the Playlist a name

Now, you need to drag the folder containing the songs into your iTunes window:

You can add as many folders as you want.

After you have all the music you want in your playlist, drag the playlist into your iPod.

Remember, doing this may be creating duplicates so don’t delete the playlist without first deleting the songs from the playlist. (See deleting music)

Adding Photos

Putting photos onto your iPod is a simple process.

Simply open iTunes, plug in your iPod. Click your iPod in the navigation pane:

Click the ‘Photos’ tab

If unticked, tick “Sync photos from: Pictures”.

If you want all of your photos on the iPod, tick “All Photos”

If you just want a selection of photos on your iPod, click “Selected folders” and tick the folders containing the photos you want.

Click “Apply” or “Sync”
